TEACHER EDUCATION

With the up-gradation of two SIEs of the UT to State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) in 2020, the Teacher Education in the UT is expected to get a new look. The professional development of teachers under Teacher Education in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir is recognized as a fundamental for the qualitative improvement of education. To become more sensitive to the emerging demands from the school system many initiatives are being taken at different levels by the Government under Teacher Education. Pertinently, the Teacher Education in the UT is put into service through the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha (Chirag Society) the implementing society. The Teacher Education institutions in the UT are expected to play more critical and expanded role to meet the challenges more effectively. Through their Pre-Service and In-service programmes these institutions are mandated with:-

  1. Continued enhancement of Teacher competencies.
  2. Up-gradation of institutional back-up.
  3. Taking on board changing technology and tools.
  4. Working for Curriculum review and renewal.
  5. Pursuing Research and Reform.
  6. Enhancing Capacities of Mid-level Managers
  7. Inter-disciplinary Linkages
  8. Advocacy campaigns
